Transparent Umbrella
Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.
About a week or two ago, three crates of umbrellas appeared out of nowhere at our company line.Intially we thought they were some new top secret weapon acquired by our camp.Upon opening the boxes,we discovered that they were merely umbrellas,a whole bunch of them at that.Apparently they are the leftovers from last year's NDP parade, and since we were the organising division, the leftovers were eventually pushed to us.
Anyway,i never thought much about them.I mean, they are transparent, and a full-grown man carrying such an umbrella will definitely make onlookers relate to certain undesirable thoughts.Either metrosexuality or homosexuality, you take the pick. The point is,that despite the fact that it's free,i never gave two thoughts about actually taking one of those home.
But yesterday, right before we booked out it started to pour.It was a storm i havent seen in a long while.India was all heat and dust,no rain at all.And to see the sky turning dark in the late afternoon like the world before a solar eclipse was a welcoming sight, for me anyway. It started with eerie lightnings, like the ones from War of the Worlds, far off in the distance. Then it started, right before i stepped out from the shelter and head down to the main gate.
Desperate,i grabbed one of those umbrellas and took a dash. They were too small for me,which was perhaps why there are so many leftovers. But anyhow,i was desperate for shelter and the concept of walking in the rain appealed. So i took a walk in the rain, and my Vans shoes was soaked at the front.
I looked up through the umbrella, and saw the rain splattering down at the top of the umbrella, then flowing down the sides. It was like snow falling down, only faster.I stood there for a while,as i waited for my parents to come.It was beautiful in a very strange way i guess, sort of like the lights at Wheelocks when you take the escalator and look right up.
I had Frou Frou's "Let Go" playing in my iPod then, and it felt so right.I felt as if i could remain in that moment forever, just thinking about things over and over.It was painful like a pinch, but it felt good in a...sadistic i'd say.
Damn,Invis.I should stop talking to you.Hahahaha.
To lie here under you,
Is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all,
To lie here under you is all that i could ever do,
To lie here under you is all...
