Therapy

It's that time of the week again.A blazing hot Saturday afternoon coupled with a mouldy mind, sitting in front of the computer listening to the same songs over and over again. When this happens you KNOW you are supposed to do something, something to get you out of thise almost irriversible state of mind.I needed a therapy,i told myself.I needed to get out of the house, grab some books down town in case i run out of it after Truman Capote's In Cold Blood.

So i got myself ready, despite having merely four hours of sleep,i headed down town to grab some books from Kino and Borders as usual.Kenneth Kwan lied to me about some sale at Kinokuniya, said something about them selling books at 20% off.I distinctively remembered that they didnt give me any discount when i bought my books last week, but nonetheless i went there anyway, since money on books is never really an issue.

I love looking through shelves of books, for the book i actually want.I have no idea why,but i guess part of the therapy of shopping is to actually hunt for that certain desired thing in your head.So i went through the ABCs in my head, looking for Fitzerald and Steinback, looking over shoulders of fellow book-shoppers just to see if they had the book.

Got my hands on "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinback,"This Side of Paradise" and "The Last Tycoon" by F.Scott Fitzgerald.Help,im crazy over this guy right now.I know he died more than sixty years ago,but hell this man is one hell of a genius when it comes to books. You almost want to read the book at ten minutes per page everything is so real and vivid, you dont want to miss a single word. He's a bloody genius, and it's definitely a shame that he had to die from a heart attack at the age of 44,a section after chapter 6 of "The Last Tycoon".What a joke, how cruel it is to have him killed off like a character from LOST,so suddenly and so unexpectedly. It's so unfair, but i guess in a way find it rather melancholically beautiful, having an unfinished piece hanging by a line or two, like Tolkien with Silmarillion.I'm glad though, that nobody attempted to complete the book, like Christopher Tolkien did with Silmarillion.I disliked the parts written by Tolkien's son in that book, which is why im glad that they left the rest of "The Last Tycoon" rather in tact, with the rest of the book in the form of drafts.

I was in fact looking for Fitzgerald's other book called "Tender is the Night".But for some reason it was out of stock at both Borders and Kino.As i was looking through other works by Fitzgerald i stumbled upon a book with his pictures in them, and i must say he is a rather charming looking man in that age,the age of Jazz.He looked totally the part, and you can imagine him in a suit and holding a wine glass drinking Whiskey with ice cubes.Zelda looked so totally liked Gloria, the way i pictured her anyway. She looked a little like Drew Barrymore, but with a splash of a slut of course.Haha, sorry Fitzgerald, but you have a shit of a taste for women.

By the way,i remember hearing that Mr. Loh Ming Yen(Yeah, that Malaysian classmate i had who was constantly bullied by fellow classmates.Once he accused Dudley of placing his schoolbag in the trashbin, and in turn got himself airborned when Dudley shoved him.He was sent flying towards the teacher's desk and i remember hearing a loud thud, the sound of his head crashing into the side.I think he cried, but i cannot remember it.I know i did, from laughing.Hahaha)works at Kinokuniya.Krishna told me that,i think, and i was curious to see it for myself.

I didnt really expect myself to see him,but when i was paying for my books at the counter i spotted that guy at the end of the counter, staring into space and waiting for customers. After paying i decided to walk over and say hi,but in return he gave me a rather strange reply which i did not expect.

"You work here..."(This was not meant to be a question)
"Yes,i do work here."
"You really work here..."
"Yes,i do.May i help you sir?"
"You dont recognize me,do you?"
"Sir?"
"You called me 'sir',haha!"
"I'm sorry,may i help you?"
"Loh Ming Yen,you really dont recognize me after all these years."
*sudden silence*
"Oh.Oh shit.Haha.Oh shit."
"You do now?"
"Yes i do,yes i do."

He called me 'sir'.Haha.Cheap thrills, but who cares. He called me 'sir'.Hahaha.
