Inner Geek Unleashed
1. One book you have read more than once
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, definitely.I read it once every year until the last movie came out. That amounted up to four times,in total.I think.I think i read The Silmarillion twice.Once because i couldnt understand it,and the second was to totally appreciate the greatness of it.Best fantasy book ever.
2. One book you would want on a desert island
ONE?I'm not too sure about just ONE book, but any of the following i guess:
- A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby --- Just to cheer me up,that suicide is not the way out of this damn island.Start making a giant S.O.S sign or a fire, buddy.
- Life of Pi by Yann Martel --- This book is about a boy who survived more than two hundred days at sea with a Bengal Tiger.Need i say more? The ultimate survival guide.
- Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt --- To remind me that there is somebody probably worse off than you.Just when you think your life is crap, somebody else is actually TASTING it.
- Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom --- To have the guts to face up to death, then smile in it's face eventually, like Morrie. The greatest mentor.
3. One book that made you laugh
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey.Got to love McMurphy! That man's one of the greatest characters ever created.
[About shock treatments]
McMurphy,"They was giving me ten thousand watts a day, you know, and I'm hot to trot! The next woman takes me on's gonna light up like a pinball machine and pay off in silver dollars!"
4. One book that made you cry
The Kite Runner by Khaled Houseinni came really close. It's heartbreaking to imagine Hassan, standing before Amir in the middle of the snow covered streets, with blood trickling down his thighs, and forcing a smile upon his face. And to have such an end to his life, fucking heart wrenching i tell you.
5. One book you wish you had written
Long Way Round by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.Simply because they travelled the world and wrote that book afterwards.I want their experience,i really want it.Such a brilliant book,by the way.
6. One book you wish had never been written
Buying a Fishing Rod for my Grandfather by Gao Xing Jian.Stay away from this book like a blood plague, ladies and gentleman. The utter trash of the literature world.
7. One book you are currently reading
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood.Lord of the Flies by William Golding afterwards.
8. One book you have been meaning to read
Hmm.Probably The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank.I have a soft spot for any book that has got to do with the second world war and the holocaust.Like Night by Elie Wiesel, and Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky.
9. One book that changed your life
Emotionally: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Mentally: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger
In terms of Interest in Literature: The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
In terms of Character: Viva La Repartee by Dr. Mardy Grothe
In terms of Perspective: The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides
