Presentation

Yesterday was the day we had our music project presentation, and our nerves were bouncing all over the place by the time the first act started. All the efforts we've put in, all the rehearsals and all the time came down to this twelve minute performance. We've been planning since May, and we have indeed come a long way as a group to pull this act off. The audience waited with much impatience, and the air in the lecture theater was tensed, despite the general illusion of casualness. Words like 'fun' and 'exciting' lingered on the lips of most, but deep inside neither of us wanted to lose to anybody else. It wasn't just Lyna we were trying to impress, but everybody in the lecture theater just waiting for us to deliver. And it wasn't helped by the fact that the triangle wasn't available in the last minute.

I remember the first meeting that we ever had, which involved the lot of us just sitting outside the lecture theater and throwing ideas down on a blank piece of paper. The atmosphere was rather awkward, but it was understandable with nobody knowing anybody then. That was when the idea of our project was born, and from there all hell broke loose when we met up more often and the ideas went from crazy to completely out of control. Amidst the gossiping and all the discussing, I was lucky enough to be associated with these great and admirable people. Like I mentioned in the previous entry about my music presentation group, we don't have jerks lurking around, which meant that it was always a joy to meet up and get down and dirty.

The night before the presentation, I chuckled myself to sleep because of the thought of the plot. I swear, if Mediacorp ever needs screenwriters, they should just hire the whole of BAC to work for them. I must say that the BAC batch has the best ideas around, and the ratings are going to soar with the kind of stuff we are capable of. Everything from the triangle man, to the silent whisper, to the gay song, and to Kevin's grand finale at the end with a Diana Krall number. It was going to be a flawless performance, and we all knew it. We were ready to bring the house down yesterday morning, and brought the house down we very well did.

With Kania and Shem rolling about on the floor with their cameras, the presentation went on without much flaws. Blondie did his rockstar-wannabe thing, Elizabeth did her silent whisper thing in her kickass costume, the dancing girls came out and couldn't stop laughing at themselves, I was next with my gay song that caused the crowd to erupt into laughter, and then it was Kevin's grand finale that truly brought out the hilarity of it all. Kevin was so bad, he was brilliant. Like I said to him, to the audience you might be this creepy and perverted old man. But to the group members, he was the star, the hero, the man. I'm not sure where Kevin finds that thick skin of his, but he does everything so naturally that my friend wondered afterwards if he is truly a homosexual.

So comes the end of our course, exiting the building with a giant bang. This is probably the only fun presentation that we are ever going to get, and I must admit that I am probably going to miss waking up early in the morning just to attend a single music lesson in school. Theories can get really boring, with the major scales and the minor scales, the augmented scales and the diminished scales, it can get rather daunting even for a person with a little bit of music background like myself. But music lessons are fun, and the presentations were great to watch and be a part of at the same time. It sure beats the dreadful COM101 presentations, with the lot of us dressed in suits and ties, standing up at the front of the lecture hall and talking about communication theories.

Anyway, I'm not sure if anybody took the video for our performance, but here are the pictures taken by Shem during the presentation. I'm still waiting for Kania's pictures to be uploaded, but let's just make do with what we have for now.

Para-Para, anyone?

Susie Wong.

No, she's not THAT short.

Cover the face, and I do have a bit of resemblance with John Mayer.

The Sax Bomb.

The Sex Bomb.

"Be mine, tonight!"

Don't ask.

Happily ever after.
