Milkshakes
There is a reason why i prefer to buy my DVDs instead of renting them from the nearest VidooEZY.There is a reason why i prefer to splash my money on them, and then telling people i prefer the feeling of owning something, than borrowing it for a limited period of time and then returning it.The reason is justified of course, like my attitude towards buying books,i like the freedom of taking the movie off the shelves and watch a certain scene, and remember just how amazing it was,the first time i watched it.
Of course, there is also the joy of seeing the astonished faces on my friends or family members' faces, when a certain twist in the storyline of a movie comes along and you knew about it long before the movie started. The way they smile at the lines known by you because you've watched the movie before, and you find yourself looking at them instead of whatever that is happening on the monitor. It is the joy i guess,to share something that you love with everybody else, the people whom you know that will appreciate the piece of art.
So today was such a day, watched Before Sunrise with my dearest.I've watched the movie a million times already. In fact,i watched it three times in two days after the first time i did. It's such a beautiful movie from the beginning till the end,and i remember wondering just how long i can tolerate a full-length movie, with just two person talking to each other. You'd think that you can only survive for minutes, but i remember ending the movie at 1am after finishing it with my mother, and wanting much more from the sequel afterwards. The joy in watching movies again,is the fact that you get to watch them with different people and to know that they smiled and laughed at the same points as you did so many times before.
Cuddled in bed,in the warm bedsheets with our fingers interlocked,we watched the movie in the fading lights of the fading afternoon. It feels great to watch a movie with her anytime,to see the astonishments on her faces, the way they contort to Jigsaw's masterpieces, and to the bittersweet goodbyes uttered by the characters of Before Sunrise. We laughed at Melvin Udall's queer ways, and of course the end of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind when Joel and Clementine ran along a frozen beach with white sand,in the middle of a Montauk winter.I saw her smiles, the way her fingers occasionally tightened around mine, and the soft touch of her hand on my arms as our toes tangled and twisted...
Yeah, the greatness of watching movies over and over again with different people,is amazing. As long as it is a good movie, you can never get sick of watching it,because there is always something more for you to discover. The discovery never stops.I think movies are such wonderful things,in the sense that it is the combination of so many efforts and so many classes of art. From literature to photography, from visual design to music. So many aspects of art, combines together to form a good movie, isnt that a good enough reason to go against piracy? Not that i am saying, because music is merely one form of art,we should pirate it however way we want. All i am saying, movies and films deserves much more respect than what you might think.
Personally,i love movies for a new reason right now.Aside from the respect i have,i love the way the both of us talk during a movie without talking to each other. We have a gift for that, dont we?Talking without talking all the time.Have you seen couples, always talking during a movie, commenting on certain scenes and going nonstop afterwards?I'm glad that you dont do that, and that we appreciates the same sort of art together,in bed or not in bed.Movies provided me with that opportunity,to be with you and talk without speaking. It's such an amazing feeling,im cant even begin to comprehend it.
Daydream delusion, limousine eyelash
Oh baby, with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
Sweet-cakes and milkshakes
I'm a delusion angel
I'm a fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don't want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we're going
Lodged in life
Like branches in a river
Flowing downstream
Caught in the current
I carry you
You'll carry me
That's how it could be
Don't you know me?
Don't you know me by now?
